At Whangaparāoa College, innovative technology is about more than devices - it is about how we prepare learners to thrive in a world shaped by rapid change. We use technology to support creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving, while ensuring that our students develop the critical skills needed to use it wisely and responsibly.
Everyday Digital Learning
From Year 7, students use digital technologies as part of their learning. These tools support collaboration, communication, and creative problem-solving across all subjects. Learners are encouraged to use technology not just to find answers, but to explore ideas, create solutions, and express themselves in new ways.
Spaces for Creativity
Our specialist design and fabrication facilities give students opportunities to bring ideas to life. From digital design to practical creation, learners explore a wide range of tools - including 3D printers, laser cutters, fabric printers, and multimedia production spaces such as our podcast room - to prototype, experiment, and express their ideas. These hands-on experiences help build both technical skills and creative confidence.
Exploring Artificial Intelligence
We are beginning to explore the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in education. Our focus is on using AI thoughtfully and ethically, ensuring that it supports learning in safe and positive ways. Draft guidelines and frameworks are being developed so that our approach is both future-focused and aligned with our school values.
Looking Ahead
Technology at Whangaparāoa College is always evolving. Our vision is to keep expanding opportunities for students to learn with and through technology, equipping them to be adaptable, innovative, and confident learners in a digital future. We aim to be recognised as a leading school in digital learning, using technology safely and effectively to enhance both learning and personal development.
