What was, what is and what will be. Whangaparāoa College Legacy naming project.

What was, what is and what will be. Whangaparāoa College Legacy naming project.

Key community members gathered at dawn to unveil and bless new building names for Whangaparāoa College. Names were chosen to locate our college historically, at present, and in the future. They correlate geographically to our community's area and include the whakapapa of Mana Whenua and Whangaparāoa Peninsula.

This collaboration with Te Herenga Waka o Ōrewa Marae can be defined as a community project underpinned by a Kaupapa Māori Research Approach. Broadly defined, this is research conducted by, for, and with the participation of community members, aiming to achieve the greatest possible benefits for all involved.
