Meet the Year 7 Teachers Evening

Meet the Year 7 Teachers Evening

Meet the Teachers evening provided an opportunity to meet the Year 7 teaching team and the pastoral and academic school leaders responsible for the success of our young learners. Whanāu were able to hear more about what makes Whangaparāoa College a great place to learn and it was fantastic to see so many whānau pack the huge auditorium to the brim on Thursday 22nd February.

The evening started with a whakatau facilitated by our Acting Principal, Mr Wiri Warriner to warmly welcome everyone to Whangaparāoa College. Principal, Mr Steve McCraken (currently in Japan) spoke about the special nature of Year 7 learners and the importance of staying connected.

Whānau had the chance to hear about the exciting learning pathway for Year 7 both from Mrs Lisa Williams, Head of Learning, and Mr Rodriguez, Deputy Principal overseeing Year 7.  Mr Stuart Moss, Year 7 Dean, presented the important pastoral structures in place for our learners, whilst Mr Stuart Peacock, Assistant Principal in Charge of Unique Character, offered an overview of the vast number of sporting and cultural opportunities available and how to get involved in school life.

At the end of the evening, whānau were invited to visit the classrooms and have a one-to-one conversation with the Year 7 homeroom teachers to get a more detailed insight into the year ahead.

It was awesome to see so many whanāu taking the opportunity to connect. A huge thank you to our fantastic Year 7 team and our whole school community for making it such a successful evening!
